Our Lady of Deliverance Massacre

Al-Qaida has made another statement of its intolerance for opposing views. On Sunday evening Baghdad a Christian church was stormed my Muslim extremists. They held the worshiping Iraqis hostage, then the Iraqi security forces went in to settle the situation by raiding the church. Once this happened all was lost for those trapped inside Our Lady of Deliverance Church. By the time the shooting had stopped and the dust had settled there was hardly a soul untouched by the violence. There were 52 dead and 67 wounded.

The small minority of Christians in Iraq has been steadily decreasing since 1980 when Christians made up 2.89% of the population. Because of incidents like this one, in 2008 only 0.89% of Iraqis claimed to be Christian. Church attendee Raed Hadi told the Associated Press journalist, “It was a massacre in there and now they are cleaning it up. We Christians don’t have enough protection…What shall I do now? Leave and ask for asylum?”
This is what many Iraqi Christians have already done. Karim Khali reportedly moved to Syria a year ago because of his Christian religious views. Other Christians wouldn’t even talk to reporters for fear of retaliation from the Muslim terrorists. What can be done?
